Maya is working with TCI developing an Educational Leadership Certificate. Maya is highly talented and will be making a contribution to other administrative and educational areas as part of TCI.
Maya began her career at De La Salle University Philippines, where she worked for 18 years from 1992 to 2009. She has served as unit director for the following offices: Office of Student Activities, Office of Career Services, Graduate Admissions Office, and as Coordinator for Centre for Social Concern and Action, Office for Counselling and Career Services and Office of Sports Development. Concurrent with her administrative roles she taught part-time in the Educational Leadership and Management Department under the Faculty of Education, and as School Supervisor under the Lasallian Supervision Office. Maya left DLSU in 2009 and served as a Senior Visiting Lecturer for the University of Malaya in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) under the Department of Educational Management and Policy Department, a post she held until 2011.
In 2010 Maya was conferred Honorary Fellow of the Australian Catholic University under the auspices of the Institute for Advancing Community Engagement and later under the Faculty of Education and Arts. She will hold this position until 2018. As an Honorary Fellow, she was able to conduct research in the areas of community engagement, education and development, educational leadership, and international education.
Maya migrated to New Zealand in 2012. Prior to her work at TCI, she taught in another PTE teaching business courses and ran her own management consulting firm, specialising in supporting mission-driven and not-for-profit organisations, mostly within the Catholic sector.
Maya is currently the Distance/Online Coordinator, Researcher, Lecturer (mostly for the Pastoral Leadership courses) and Coordinator for various TCI programmes.
