The Catholic Institute

Courses of Study

At The Catholic Institute we have three ways of engaging in study to ensure the courses are accessible to all people who would like to do them.

Face to Face study is available in diocesan centres. The Timetable gives a comprehensive list of all courses and places for 2013.  Studying face to face requires students to attend classes and to participate in a course taught by a TCI lecturer or adjunct lecturer.

Distance Learning courses recognize that not everyone in New Zealand can access the face to face courses. The tutors for Distance learning are mainly at TCI's Wellington site. Detailed resources are provided to help guide the student through a course and the student communicates with the tutor through email or mail.

The Faith Update courses are shorter digitally based courses designed for people who want to learn in their own time and who need to manage other responsibilities. These courses are taught online through TCI's online classroom. Course participants need a computer connected to the internet so that the material can be accessed.

Faith Update courses are suitable for teachers, individuals and parish or family groups looking to have some reflection and discussion. Five topics are available this year.
